Bits of wisdom

source

Lighten up a little bit. It's only the end of the world.
Battlestar Galactica TV series

Sometimes the most liberating thing in life to happen is to have your deepest fears come true. We spend so much time and waste so much energy fearing the unknown. The fear itself is more debilitating than the things we fear might happen.
Sometimes the only way to break the spell is to let go and throw yourself into the abyss of the unknown.

  1. True.
Now I´m just wondering, what made you choose this bit of wisdom?

  2. Hi! I have been thinking about you, staying close to the Slovenian border for 2 weeks, listening to the stories people tell when it comes to the Slovenian minority in Carinthia. I used to know all I know from the media. It is a whole different thing to hear the opinions first hand!

We moved so little, we did not even make it to Tarvis from Villach, no way we would reach Ljubliana, which means there are still so many plans left for our next vacation. We searched for a conneting path which connets two moutnains in the woods for 4 times! But it was fun, all those attempts, and another and yet another, totally senseless walks but soothing for the mind and soul, searching the way in nature on overgrown paths in the wood. :-)

Virgo as ascendent in your sign of the zodiac is a great enabler for fearing any kind of the unknown, did you know that?

  3. I felt that way during the economic collapse. I feared it, planned for it as best as possible, then it happened. My worst fears came true. We had to adapt and learn to live like church mice. That's how we live now, for the most part, and you know what? It's fine. The sun still comes up every morning :).

  4. Mette: Just tired of all the negativity and fear related to the current economic crisis. It's tedious and unproductive to be reminded daily that the whole world is in a crippling economic depression.

Paula: My ascendant is Gemini. I'm told that's a very positive influence on my rather pessimistic Virgo (sun) / Cancer (moon) combination.

Susan: Yes, it's totally shitty. Whining is a waste of time though. I think a tremendous lesson can be learned from this situation...still working on it :-)

  6. MrsLittleJeans: It's like a personal mantra ;-) I rarely get the light bulb over my head moments. This was definitely one.

  7. I have actually been trying to tell myself this lately. Glad to see I'm not the only one!

  8. Heidi: Definitely not alone! I simply refuse to accept that only two options are available: whining or pretending the problem doesn't exist.

  9. Coffeeadict, now I see where we "meet": my sun is in the sign of Gemini, so we are so to say "vice versa" people. :-)
There are many things one can like about the Virgo, for example you probably never run out of gas or toilet paper. No guarantees of course :-)

  10. Paula: True to form I'm a terrorist when it comes to anything household related. I adore clean, clutter free spaces and even have my coffee mugs arranged in a certain manner. Gas and car is Mr. C's domain, but we never run out of it, or toilet paper either ;-P
