Easing into 2014

Emperor's dream

Calming down after a hectic, memorable and exciting December 2013 I've chosen to start 2014 slowly. Unburdened by the need to review the past year as well as make any new year's resolutions or immediate plans.
Instead I've decided to ease in to the new year with some ingenious entertainment in the form of origami (a gift from a friend who's recently travelled to Hong Kong) and a delicious cup of my favourite tea (bought on my recent trip to Holland).
Origami grasshopper and pig
How are you spending your first week of 2014?

  1. I have had a play with papercrafts the last few months and have settled into card making at the moment, which I'm finding rather enjoyable. I don't know if I'd have the patience for origami- your folds look so neat ... I'm sure I'd have creases in all the wrong places! I love your choice of tea btw!

    1. Annette thanks :-) but to be honest, the origami paper that came with the set is like nothing I've ever seen. Super thin but sturdy at the same time enabling crisp folds.

  2. You have the right idea to ease into this year. It is such a coincidence that I have been coming across origami, in films, at work, and now on your blog. It must be relaxing although I find it difficult.
I have jumped into this year and already marveling why it is going too fast. I better slow down.
Great to see you Anna- I will take lessons from you xo

    1. The tea helps to slow me down. It has that aaaaaah effect where everything important and need to take care of right this moment just fades away!

  3. Easing into 2014 best describes my pace as well. The weather has slowed down so let's just follow suit. A warming cup of tea sounds perfect. I too have been seeing more origami these days. Never tried it myself but looks interesting. Oh you should show us pictures of your trip to Holland!

    1. Sanda, in keeping with the spirits of a slow start I'm holding off posting such a labour intensive post ;-) But I was planning on sharing photos from my trip as well as the spoils :-)

  4. January has started with routine ( + extra ) health check-ups. In the midst of them yet, so can´t cross my hands peacefully yet.
A cup of relaxing tea sounds tempting !

    1. Mette, I hope the checkups return favourable results! In the meantime maybe we can convince Sanda to host another Thursday virtual tea party :-)

    1. Judith, I remeber those paper hats/boats too! I used to float them down a stream when I was a kid. Uf, long forgotten memories...

      Happy weekend!
