Too many words

and not a single one fits. After three days of condolences and helpful advice I'm just about ready to round up every single word that has been spoken and delete them permanently from the hard drive that is my mind. Like a corrupt file.

Franzi, the balcony gnome

Today my step dad would have turned 66 except he never made it. He died on Friday. Unexpectedly. From a heart attack.

His legacy: a garden full of orphaned gnomes. Many of them still in his workshop too. Waiting for a coat of paint or a few finishing touches.

The cats miss him. So do mum and me.

  11. I just saw this -- and I'm really sorry (which seems like such a weak phrase, but I hope you know what I mean). I absolutely love that he collected gnomes.

    1. Lori, thanks :-) the gnomes were his creations too, he made them from clay, sculpted them and painted them. It was his lifelong dream to make them once he retired.

    1. Thanks Paula! Life is quite different now, I suppose is part of growing up to deal with things that are tough. I just wish he lived longer, 66 is too young to die.

  13. I just wanted to say my hellos to you, as your blog has been inactive so long, for reasons we know.
There must be lots of practical work at this time, helping your mother to adjust to her living alone. Did you take some time off work? Are you having time for any vacation this summer, any plans?
I just wanted you to know, that I have not forgotten you.
    Hugs your way, Mette

    1. Dear sweet, sweet ida!!! Thanks :-) I haven't been really inspired much these days so my blog is a bit neglected. There has been a lot of running around tying up loose ends. It's frustrating how much bureaucracy one has to put up with after such a shocking personal tragedy: miles and miles of paperwork and certificates and stuff. Very annoying!
On the other hand the weather has brightened and things no longer look so glum. I'll be back to active blogger status in no time.
