Today, I've accepted an invitation to a very special and as it turns out an ultra stylish coffee date with my oldest blogger friend Mette from Metscan who threw together this surprise gathering.
Since this is blogosphere the usual time/space limitations do not apply and our date is conducted virtually via the Internet.
Go check out what the other ladies will be wearing. I must say that after reading about their outfits my most casual linen pants/polo top and flat sandals outfit I was planning on wearing seemed modest and out of place. I had to dig a little deeper into my closet and opted instead for the more feminine combination of a white blazer and printed knit dress (I'm deliberately choosing to omit the labels).
Accessories are pretty standard: my formal sunglasses;
a vintage brooch;
and a vintage Turkish filigree bracelet given to me by my mum.

Ana,it would not have been the same without you,what a delightful bracelet with the delicate filigree,are they small pearls?
ReplyDeleteYou are always look elegant in your dresses,and so photogenic....please don't do yourself down.
Thank goodness someone else is wearing trousers.Ida
ida, thanks for the compliment :-) It's quite warm in Ljubljana and my wardrobe is leaning dangerously towards too casual. Maybe I just yearn for the beach...
Deletethe filigree is just silver, the small buds are silver too, but the reflection and grey light plays a trick on the eye
Your outfit is perfect! Love the bracelet. It's so nice meeting everyone!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sanda. The bracelet is beautiful and holds a powerful sentimental heritage. My grandfather who died at a young age gave a pair of identical bracelets to my mum and my aunt who passed them on to my cousin and me.
DeleteAna, you'll definitely fit right in with these very stylish ladies. The bracelet is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to hear that my fashion goddess Hillary will be there so I won't be the only one dressed like her! See you later...
I admire Hilary for her boldness to wear just what she wants to wear regardless if it looks crumpled or dowdy. Why should women be thin, blond and sexy to fit in?
DeleteI see the bracelet is a winner today :-)
Love the entire ensemble...so that is the trick, the solid jacket with the print, I am at a loss with prints and I really like them. The brooch is beautiful as are the glasses and the bracelet. I am a bracelet hog. xx
ReplyDeleteprints are a mystery to me too :-) I admire women that can mix several prints and come out looking chic. Not for me, I always match at least one colour of the printed garment.
DeleteYou chose a very classy outfit. Can't fail with black and white. Like other's mentioned, the bracelet is beautiful. Now that you told us the story behind it I see it is precious to you as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun this get together was!
Darla
Darla the dress is actually a very peculiar grey/blue that makes it look very sophisticated indeed. And yes the best part of owning something is when it comes with a story...
DeleteI´m s o glad you made it!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is special. I like the mix of patterns, the striped hem is delicious, and indeed, it was wise to take the jacket along. You are trendy, as shortish sleeves are now preferred.
Mixing modern and antique is always challenging, but you succeeded, as your both bracelets are in silver. Mmmm, the sunglasses!
these sunglasses are a true wardrobe staple and a trusted accessory :-)
DeleteI think this combo works because the dress has a sort of retro vibe that goes with the vintage jewellery.
thanks for the invite!
Well said, personally Hilary looks fine to me when I see her on TV,like the way she changes her hair styles,who are all these fashion pundits that tell us as strong,individual woman what we must do/buy/wear...Bah Humbug.
ReplyDeleteThey are all in cohorts with the money making fashion houses to get us to spend our hard earned sterling!
Sorry for the tirade,still find it difficult the 'herd'instinct.....to be honest I have fallen for it at times. Ida
who hasn't??
DeleteI've stopped buying fashion magazines precisely because of this and yet every time I walk past the magazine stand I feel this urge to buy them and see what's new and hip
