Happiness comes in a box: Ceramic jars

We all know them: the little trinkets that cost next to nothing but they make us incredibly happy. Whether it's because they fulfill a certain purpose in our household or are there simply for their intrinsic beauty.

This set of hand painted ceramic jars is a work of Slovene artisan Mateja Horvat. I'm not usually a fan of ceramics but there is something so adorable and fresh about her designs.

The jars are meant for storing coffee, sugar and cookies.

The knobs are my favourite part of the jars.

  1. I do love those handles, but the designs are very fresh and inspired as well, Coffee. I like that particular orchid/lime green color combination very much.

  2. Ana, I should have guessed. Three. The jars are very pretty and I respect you choosing a native artist.

  4. Charlotte: It is something about the colour contrast that had me drawn to this particular design, although I don't really care for the two colours when I see them individually.

Mette: Yes it's the rule of three again. It didn't even occur to me until you pointed it out!

Ida: Thanks :-) I think the knobs are handmade and the jars are probably casted in moulds.

  5. I agree - those colors looks good together. And I like the shape of these. I think they are made on a turntable or what it´s called. The rule of three - now I understand why I love making threes...

  6. Who could pass up those knobs? I like the flowers too as I've been drawing what I call fantasy flowers and looking at florals with a new eye.

Thanks for stopping at my place today, hope you come back again.

  7. Flowermouse design: it's quite possible they were made on a turn table, but they are all so identical it's hard to imagine they get them that way without a mould. As for the rule of three, it's not an actual rule but rather this compulsion of mine to have decorative items in sets of three. But I guess this is something universal?
    Welcome to my blog :-)

see you there: thanks for hopping over :-)
