Wedding photos

They're finally here! And it was well worth the wait. Our photographer, Špela did an outstanding job and it was pure torture having to scale the photos from 650 to about 150 for the album. Our the course of the past weekend Mr. C and I did several rounds of eliminating photos each one becoming increasingly more difficult as we had to delete several great pictures.

We wanted Špela to really capture the feel of the wedding. Which meant a lot of candid photography and a lot of pictures of the wedding props, food as well as paying close attention to what the people were doing and trying to get it all on camera.

Bellow are a few, just a few of my favourite photos from the first section of the photo album: the preparations for the wedding and the "formal" photos. The second, more personal portion of the album will consist of photos of our family and friends as we dance, eat and drink and have loads of fun. For reasons of privacy these photos are kept off the blog.

  2. What a beautiful, unique dress. Is it customary for brides in Slovenia to wear blue or is that a personal touch?

    1. Bridal trends in Slovenia are sadly still stuck on the strapless puffy gowns paired with white satin pumps or sandals. Alternatively brides have their dresses made and like mine they are unconventional: more informal and usually in bold colours, most often it's red.
Slovene brides also never wear veils or hats, though clips and other hair accessories are very popular. Boleros or wraps frequently come with the dress though few know how to wear them. I had originally planned a far more subdued and conservative dress with the shoes and the fascinator as highlights. My dressmaker was far bolder and slowly warmed me up to the idea of my dress to be embellished with petals. I'm really glad she did.

    1. Mette, thank you for this warm welcome into the married womens' club! I think the most frequent question we've received since is what has changed. Nothing has changed, not really. By that I mean that the simple act of getting married does not magically make everything better or improve the relationship. We're still the same two people and our union hasn't changed by it but I belive wedding is an outward and very solemn expression of this union and getting married is a big step in starting a family.

    1. Oh, yes the stockings picture is perfect.
While my outfit was fairly retro inspired, my cousin, also my witness had chosen a very modern dress in silver/grey. We chose to wear the same style of stockings as a point of common ground and I love how they complemented our outfits, really bringing out the retro vibe in mine and the sassy youthfulness in hers.

The shoes were such a lucky find, yet the look like they were made for the outfit and will be put to future use as well. A superb investment piece

    1. Susan, thank you for the happy wishes :-)
I see the roller ball jacket treatment is a favorite both with my on blog as well as off blog audience. But it is such a spontaneous moment, I love the small imperfections in the photo, renders it all so very genuine

  11. The picture of the two rings on their sides (with the shoes) is so wonderful. I love his large one with your smaller one nestled up next to it. Here's to your happiness always!

    1. Beryl thank you for your wishes!
The photo of the rings side by side is very romantic and meaningful. I also think it's cute because the obvious difference in our ring sizes is really obvious.
